One modder has already ported a ton of Elden Ring- Shadow of the Erdtree’s bosses into Sekiro-

It’s been a little over a month since Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree released, and modder Andmonika has already backported some of its bosses into 2019 FromSoftware ninja action game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Details are slim on the project’s Nexus Mods page, called “Sekiro the Lord of Erdtree,” but screenshots show Midra, Messmer, Radahn, as well as base game bosses Maliketh and Malenia hanging out in the kingdom of Ashina.

Soulsborne YouTuber Ongbal has uploaded a video of the Sekiro version of the Midra: Lord of the Frenzied Flame fight, and while the challenge runner makes everything look easy—including no-hitting Promised Consort Radahn—you can tell that even Erdtree’s more aggressive bosses just can’t keep up with the faster pace of play in Seki…

CrowdStrike CEO apologises for global IT outage that has seen planes grounded, health services halted and the BSOD appearing in oh so many places it shouldn’t-

Updated on 19 July 2024: This story was updated with CrowdStrike’s confirmation of the issue in a blog post and the CEO’s apology in a statement made to the Today programme. You can watch that below.

A bug is affecting a large number of systems running Windows and the security software from CrowdStrike. Airlines, train companies, health and emergency services are among those facing an issue causing repeated restarts and the blue screen of death (BSOD).

Microsoft says of the issue: “We have been made aware of an issue impacting Virtual Machines running Windows, running the CrowdStrike Falcon agent, which may encounter a bug check (BSOD) and get stuck in a restarting state. We are aware of this issue and are currently investigating potential options Azure …

PSA- Diablo 4 players, don’t waste your gold-

Every action RPG veteran knows not to bother buying items from shopkeepers. It’s guaranteed that handing over money for a magic sword means two minutes later you’ll find a better one lying on the ground. Your gold is better spent elsewhere in most action RPGs, but Diablo 4 in particular goes all-in on finding ways to part unwary adventurers from coins before the moment where you’ll suddenly need it.

When you reach level 10 a couple of priority quests arrive in your quest log. One teaches you how to upgrade your healing potions, while another teaches you how to upgrade your items. And while forking over successively higher amounts of gold to your local Alchemist to increase the effect of every healing potion you quaff is totally worthwhile, the other is kind of a noob trap. Go ahea…

Randomizer mod for RollerCoaster Tycoon breathes life into a bonafide classic-

To my profound horror, there are probably people reading this article who haven’t been around as long as RollerCoaster Tycoon, the classic theme park management sim from 1999. In the decades it’s been with us, every square inch of RollerCoaster Tycoon has been picked apart and mastered. There’s nothing left to discover and no surprises in store. RollerCoaster Tycoon is a solved game. Or it was, anyway.

Enter the RollerCoaster Tycoon randomizer mod from Die4Ever, the same creator who’s brought us such bangers as the randomizer mods for Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior. Using it, you too can enjoy being buffeted by the uncaring winds of fate as the mod mucks around with your scenario goals, length, starting money, and ride stats. You could, for example, be tasked with attrac…

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 closed beta is live for invitees, now that Larian has fixed a critical bug- ‘[The] dice are now rolling’-

July 25, 2024: While further info is still under wraps, Larian studios has announced that the ‘dice are now rolling’, making the Patch 7 Baldur’s Gate 3 closed beta available for those participating. The original story, as well as current details on the patch itself, can be found below.

If you’re wondering why the closed beta for Baldur’s Gate 3’s seventh patch is delayed, picture this: You’ve sat down to play D&D with your mates. You’re all excited to toy with some new homebrew content your DM has organised. You go to make a Wisdom (Perception) check to spot anything amiss in the room when, unprompted, your DM reaches across the table, grabs your dice, and throws them out of the window.

That’s basically what’s going on with Baldur…

Survive a harsh world in the demo for a city builder that looks like a Moebius drawing come to life-

A demo of upcoming city builder Synergy has released on Steam, and it’s looking like Synergy might just play as good as it looks. The game is about leading your people, inhabitants of a harsh desert planet widely hostile to human life, to a new region where they must reconsider how to live and thrive. Much of the game is about analyzing the resources you find and how to best use them in a sustainable way.

We first got a real look at Synergy back in 2022, when it was announced, but haven’t heard much new since then. The demo dives into several major aspects of the game like exploring, analyzing flora, and building a production chain.

The demo takes about an hour to beat and has a “research system, 8 exploration events, 7 elements of flora to analyze, 20+ buildings, and 20 res…

After two decades, Ratchet & Clank finally come to PC this summer-

The Ratchet & Clank series recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and, remarkably enough, it’s been around all this time without any of the games finding their way to PC. But as is the way of all PlayStation things now, barring Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC on July 26.

The game is being handled by Nixxes Software in collaboration with original developer Insomniac Games (which is probably quite busy with Spider-Man 2 at the moment). In a blogpost making the announcement Nixxes’ Julian Huijbregts says the game “is a visual spectacle that is perfectly suitable for newcomers”, and it’s true that the Ratchet & Clank games have always been showcases: Sony loves to launch a new PlayStation in the vicinity of a new game in this series, to giv…

A free Per Aspera expansion lets you urbanize a green, verdant Mars-

Mars terraforming simulator Per Aspera has released a new, free DLC called Home about making Mars more livable. New features expand the process of terraforming Mars to include deeper, broader coverage of flora and larger, more habitable open-air cities for Earth’s population to move into.

It shifts the goal of Per Aspera to include a post-game, where once terraforming would have been considered complete, you can now keep playing to more deeply develop a livable ecosystem on the red planet. There are also new mechanics like desertification if you make Mars too hot, and dynamic water levels concerning water purity.

The developers’ update also includes new buildings like atmospheric humidifiers and more advanced open-air farming. It’ll also have massive Metropolis cities, and o…

Valve casually upends the Dota 2 meta by adding innate powers to all 124 heroes-

Dota 2 has gotten a particularly game-bending update this month. Despite its simple name, Gameplay Update 7.36 has changed how all 124 heroes in Dota 2 play by fundamentally tweaking the structure of a character: Every single hero now has an innate ability of some kind, up from a mere… 7 heroes before. To boot, every single hero now has two Facets, a  binary choice of gameplay styles or bonuses that you choose before the match even starts.

The changes are a range of twists: From near-complete reworks and daunting shakeups to how a character plays to the return of abilities removed from Dota ages ago or fairly simple tweaks that just reinforce how the character already played.

Characters with fairly iconic playstyles have seen their most characteristic ability—th…

Oh, that was embarrassing. Not so much the guessing itself, but the way I managed to waste an entire row thanks to a typo. It’s my own fault—my brain was so excited it forgot to properly engage my fingers first, and I had to suffer the sight of a guess I already knew was wrong throw away a whole row. I won’t make that mistake again. Well, not tomorrow, anyway. Maybe.

Yo dawg, I heard you like screens, so I put a screen on your CPU fan-

Screens on AIO water cooling blocks are obviously a bit of a thing. But a screen on an air cooler? Give it up for the Lamptron ST060, delivering what you probably didn’t know you need at a price you almost certainly don’t want to pay.

The ruse here involves a mostly conventional CPU air cooler, albeit a fairly hefty example of the breed measuring roughly six-by-six-by-five inches and rated as capable of dissipating 260W of heat. It supports a range of Intel CPU sockets, from LGA 1366 through LGA 1700 and LGA 2011, plus AMD AM4 and AM5 sockets.

So far, so par for the high-end air cooler course. The first hint that the Lamptron ST060 is a bit different is the 299 euro list price on Caseking (via Techspot). Now, that’s including circa 20% of VAT. So, call it 250 euros pre-VAT o…

Windows 11 bloatware may soon be easier to uninstall as Microsoft tests its latest update-

Windows 11 has received a fair amount of critique since its release, and a common complaint that often rears its head is the number of features and applications included in a default installation that many users deem unnecessary, with no easy or obvious way to remove them. Microsoft may be about to address those concerns, as according to Bleeping Computer the latest development build allows users to easily uninstall default applications including the Camera app, Cortana, Photos, People, and more.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23585 seems like a relatively small update, with the usual list of bug fixes and known issues and some improvements to the Snipping Tool, which can now better display HDR.

However, it’s the option to easily uninstall key apps within the OS with…
